Women's Self Defense Classes Starting in November!

Coming this November: Women's Self Defense! Starting on November 5th Maui Jiu Jitsu will be offering a self defense class for women. The class will be at the Haiku academy on Saturdays from 1pm - 3pm and will be taught by Luis and the always amazing Danyel! Contact the academy for more information!

Master Heredia Promotes his 7th Black Belt!

MJJ would first like to thank everyone who came and supported the 2010 Winter Belt Promotions. A big congratulations to Chris Andrion on his promotion to Black Belt. Chris has been a student under Master Heredia since the white belt and MJJ's kids instructor for over 6 years. Chris was tested on the entire Gracie Self Defense System in front of the school and passed with flying colors! Good job Chris! We'd also like to congratulate all of the other students who received belts and stripes that day! Keep up the good work!

It's hard to believe there year is almost over which means it time for MJJ's Winter Belt Promotion Ceremony and Party! Ceremony will be held at the Main Academy in Haiku on December 11th, 2010. Kids will be promoted firtst at 10 a.m. and Adults at 12 noon. A Holiday Dinner Party will be held later that evening at 8 p.m. at Hana Hou Restaurant in Haiku across from the Academy. MJJ Hosting world class Judo Seminar!

MJJ is excited to welcome one of the greatest fighter in Europe, Olivier D'Amario, 4th degree Judo/Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, American Boxing Black Belt and official member of the French Judo Team! Seminar will be held for 4 days 2 hours per day starting August 9th through August 12th, 2010. Monday 10-Noon, Tuesday 6-8pm, Wednesday 10-noon and Thursday 6-8pm. Rate is $100 for the entire program or $25 per class.

The 7th Annual MJJ Open Tournament 2010

It's that time of year again and MJJ is gearing up for our 7th Annual Maui Jiu-Jitsu Open Tournament. Professor Luis Heredia has been hosting this statewide tournament for 7 years now and going strong. There will be GI and NO-GI division for Kids, Women, Men, Adult and Master Divisions. There will also be prize money for Brown & Black Belt divisions along with participation medals for all kids. Registration is $40 for kids under 14 and $60 for Adults for one or both divisions and includes free MJJ Rash Guard. 6th Annual Maui Jiu Jitsu Open

It is our great pleasure to invite you and your organization to attend and compete in the 6th annual Maui Jiu-Jitsu open Tournament. The event will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the War Memorial Gymnasium in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii. We also welcome back all who attended last year's event. We expect this year's tournament to be even larger, with bigger and better competition!
Competition will consist of matches in all belt levels and weight divisions with medals, trophies, and prizes to the winners as well as the always competitive team competition, with trophies and prizes to the top three teams.
Please make every attempt to register as early as possible to allow us to begin the always time consuming process of setting up the brackets and matching competitors. This allows us to start the competition on time and keep the tournament flowing smoothly.

He will be teaching some Seminars for the Pedro Sauer Association first in Tampa and then in Rio de Janeiro topping his trip off with a fight at the 2009 Senior & Masters International Championships hosted by the IBJJF! Xande Ribeiro Seminar!

The Maui Jiu Jitsu Academy was honored with a visit from world champion Xande Ribeiro last Saturday, May 9th. Xande is one of the very best brazilian jiu jitsu players in the world and gave Luis and his students a fantastic seminar. Ribeiro is yet another in a long line of jiu jitsu greats to come to Maui and visit with Luis and his academy. We thank Xande and his wonderful fiance for taking the time to come see us and hope to have them both back soon!

MJJ First Annual Keiki Showdown

MJJ will be hosting it's First Annual Keiki Showdown on Sunday, April 19th, 2009. This competition is to be held in-house at Maui Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Haiku, Maui. The registration fee will be one low price of $20 to participate in one or both Gi & No-Gi divisions. Tournament is ope for ages 5-16. There will be medals and trophies for the winners and event T-shirts will be available for sale to raise money to host more Keiki Jiu-Jitsu programs.
